On the 3rd of April 2009 Kim, Ubie, Thabo and I went to Cape Town at around 12:30 and got to Town just before 13:00. When we got there we decided to buy some cones at McDonalds because it was hot and we needed to cool down and enjoy the moment. A few minutes later Leen and Peter arrived to pick us up so that we can go to Green Point Stadium for the day. Leen then told us that they have forgotten the camera that they were supposed to bring along so that we can take pictures for our portfolio of learning at the Guest House and that they are heading back to the Guest House to pick it up and I thought to myself “finally we are going to see the Guest House”. When we got to the Guest House I was amazed at what I was seeing, it was beyond what I see in my dreams. We went out onto the balcony for a few minutes where we were able to see the whole of Cape Town and Table Mountain, the mountain appeared so close it felt as if I could just reach out and touch it. To find out more about my mentors guest house (Manolo) you can just click on the picture below For me that is what life is all about and how a person should live like, “someday I will have my own balcony”. We then sat down for half an hour and spoke about the article I was supposed to read for our gathering. The article I read was about the cabling theft and what Eskom was doing to prevent lives being lost in the process because of people who steal cable and leave the rest of the live cables hanging from the poles making it dangerous for people live near these cable. From the conversations we had I realized that I’m not the only one being affected by this crime Kim, Ubie and Thabo had the same problems like me when it came to cable theft. After our discussion we then hopped into the car and went to Green Point Stadium where we were entertained by a Guy who I personally thing can be a great actor/comedian if he want to be. He talked about the history of Cape Town and how soccer became apart of our lives. If it hadn’t been for the Anglo Boer War our Country wouldn’t have been selected to host the 2010 World Cup because we would never have played soccer. It was because of the war that people in Cape Town started to play soccer because soldiers was becoming bored when there was nothing to do and that’s how the love of the game started to develop in Cape Town, I guess we are fortunate enough to be apart of the history that’s about to be made in 2010. After the show we went out and was allowed to take photos of the new Green Point Stadium, which to my opinion looks fantastic and hopefully one day I will be able to sit in the new Green Point Stadium and enjoy it just as many people will do so next year during the 2010. When the whole thing was done we then managed to play foosball for about 10 minutes, which was something I would remember for a long time because I love to play foosball and I got to play against my two mentors Leen and Peter. |
